VOLUNTEER JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Overview

At Believe in Me, we envision a future where every child has the self-confidence they need to succeed. We are a dedicated team, funding and supporting children's charities that provide marginalized kids with a safe place to call home, a loving family, a sense of community, and ample opportunities to learn, grow, self-esteem, and experience joy. We are currently developing the 1st Gen College Hub app, aimed at empowering first-generation college students with comprehensive resources, personalized guidance, and a supportive community.

Role Summary:

The 1st Gen College Hub app project is seeking a passionate and creative Volunteer Marketing and Outreach Lead to spearhead our marketing and outreach efforts. This role is ideal for someone who believes in empowering first-generation college students and is eager to use their marketing and communication skills to make a significant impact. The Volunteer Marketing and Outreach Lead will be responsible for both the strategic and operational aspects of marketing, communications, and event planning within the project.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategy Development: Create and implement a comprehensive marketing and outreach strategy that aligns with the project's goals, targeting first-generation college students, their supporters, and potential volunteers.
  • Brand Messaging: Craft compelling messaging that resonates with our diverse audiences, consistently conveying the mission and values of Believe in Me across all platforms.
  • Digital Marketing: Manage and grow our presence on social media platforms, including content creation, scheduling, and analytics monitoring to increase engagement and awareness.
  • Content Creation: Oversee the production of engaging marketing materials, including blog posts, newsletters, press releases, and digital content, ensuring consistency and quality.
  • Event Planning: Coordinate and promote online and (when feasible) in-person events aimed at community engagement, fundraising, or project promotion.
  • Partnership Building: Identify and establish partnerships with educational institutions, nonprofit organizations, and other relevant entities to expand our reach and impact.
  • Volunteer Coordination: Work closely with the volunteer team, particularly the Outreach Coordinator and Graphic Designer, to ensure marketing efforts are collaborative and effective.
  • Analytics and Reporting: Monitor and report on the effectiveness of marketing campaigns and strategies, using data to inform future marketing decisions.
Qualifications
  • Proven experience in marketing, communications, or a related field, with a portfolio of past work.
  • Excellent communication and writing skills, with the ability to create compelling content for a variety of audiences.
  • Strong understanding of digital marketing strategies and social media platforms.
  • Creative thinking and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to overcoming challenges.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and coordinate efforts across different volunteer roles.
  • Passion for the mission of Believe in Me and commitment to empowering first-generation college students.

  • Familiarity with security assessment tools and methodologies, including penetration testing and security auditing.
  • Knowledge of web and mobile application development and the associated security risks and mitigation strategies.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and act swiftly in response to security incidents.
  • Strong communication skills, capable of working collaboratively with a remote, volunteer-based team.
  • A passion for cybersecurity and a commitment to using your skills to make a positive impact in the community.
Location

This is a remote volunteering position with flexible hours to accommodate volunteers from various time zones.
