Position Overview

At Believe in Me, we envision a future where every child has the self-confidence to succeed. We are dedicated to empowering marginalized children by funding and supporting programs that provide them with a safe place, a loving community, and ample opportunities for growth. Our latest initiative, the 1st Gen College Hub app, aims to support first-generation college students by offering resources, guidance, and community support tailored to their unique challenges.

Role Summary

The Volunteer Content Strategist plays a pivotal role in the development and success of the 1st Gen College Hub app, a technology-driven platform designed to support first-generation college students. As a Volunteer Content Strategist, you will be responsible for overseeing the app's content strategy and production, ensuring that all materials are engaging, informative, and aligned with our mission to empower marginalized kids and first-generation college students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Content Strategy Development: Craft and implement a comprehensive content strategy that supports the app's objectives and user needs, incorporating insights from user research and feedback.
  • Content Creation and Management: Oversee the creation and curation of high-quality, impactful content across various formats (text, video, interactive tools) that resonates with our target audience.
  • Editorial Leadership: Manage the content calendar, ensuring a consistent flow of relevant and valuable content. Guide and collaborate with content creators, providing feedback and editorial direction.
  • User Engagement and Retention: Develop content-driven strategies to engage users, foster community, and encourage retention within the app.
  • SEO and Analytics: Optimize content for search engines and analyze user engagement data to refine content strategies and improve user experience.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with the UI/UX design team, technical teams, and marketing to ensure content is seamlessly integrated into the app and promoted effectively.
  • Mission Alignment: Ensure all content reflects the values and mission of Believe in Me, aiming to inspire, educate, and support first-generation college students.
Qualifications
  • Experience in content strategy, content creation, and digital marketing, preferably in an educational or nonprofit setting.
  • Strong editorial skills and ability to produce engaging, high-quality content for a diverse audience.
  • Familiarity with SEO best practices and content analytics tools.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a volunteer-driven, remote team environment.
  • Passionate about education, with a deep understanding of the challenges faced by marginalized and first-generation college students.
  • Creative thinker with a strategic mindset, able to develop innovative solutions to engage users and achieve project goals.
  • Commitment to volunteering 2-3 hours per week for content strategy and production tasks.

Location

This is a remote volunteering position with flexible hours to accommodate volunteers from various time zones.
