Kitchen of Life is an educational master-chef style culinary experience where students demonstrate willingness to seek help for themselves and others. The program is designed to help the students find a sense of togetherness and increase confidence. This is made possible through our volunteers who assist students in building independence and self-esteem throughout the entire experience.

Mission Statement

The mission of the Kitchen of Life is to provide experiences embedded with the foundations for resilience and positive youth development for students through collaborative culinary experiences.

Description

Kitchen of Life is a model of positive youth development based on the universal principal that to be emotionally well, all youth need a sense of belonging, generosity, independence, and mastery. The mission of the Kitchen of Life is to provide the foundation for these skills using collaborative culinary experiences. These principals come alive by creating a resilience- focused educational approach through the team work which occurs in the Kitchen of Life. Students come in four separate times for two hours each and engage in learning new curriculum and then practice that days lesson through creating meals as a team.
