School of Economics relies on volunteers to support our staff and mission of teaching children about financial capability in a fun and engaging environment. Volunteers work in shops with 6-8 elementary-aged students and help them as they learn what it’s like to run a business. As a volunteer, you will help students take out a loan and understand the concept of interest and paying expenses like rent and taxes. Some volunteers will work one-on-one with young bank tellers, cashing checks and taking deposits. Others will help shops with producing merchandise, staying within budget and customer service. SOE is a secured facility, please plan to stay for your entire shift. No late volunteers will be permitted. A background screening is required before you can volunteer at our facility.
