ORGANIZATION: Catalyst for Change Vietnam

Join Catalyst For Change Vietnam’s Teach for Change initiative closing the education disparity gap for disadvantaged Vietnamese youth. We partner with English centers that provide affordable English classes in a country where English education is increasingly important yet prohibitively expensive. We provide volunteers with accommodation, 2 meals/day, brief TESOL course & airport pickup.

  • Gain professional development as an English teacher and receive a certificate of volunteering and a recommendation letter, along with teaching experience.
  • Discover Vietnamese culture and language through living with a host family that provides two meals a day.
  • Make memories you'll never forget during weekend excursions to different parts of Vietnam with your host family, fellow participants, or trusty motorbike.
  • Help bridge the educational gap between rural and urban Vietnam by volunteering at one of our partner locations in the peaceful Vietnamese countryside.
  • Make a difference in the lives of not only the children you teach, but the lives of marginalized women in Vietnam, who benefit from our Empowerment Projects.

Mission Statement

Catalyst for Change Vietnam (C4C) is a not-for-profit organization. Founded in 2015 by Hong Tang as Coins for Change, our organization has been dedicated to making a positive impact on the lives of rural children and disadvantaged women in Vietnam. Over the years, we have evolved and expanded our services, offering educational, vocational, business, and mental health support through two flagship programs: Teach for Change and The Empowerment Plan.

Description

Our organization was originally established in December 2015, and we now offer several programs related to education, equality, and business support within Vietnam. Our two overarching programs include the Teach for Change Program and the Empowerment Plan.

The first, Teach for Change connects international English teaching volunteers with our partner schools and English centers. In alignment with the women-empowering mission of Coins for Change-TFC’s founder organization-we focus on supporting female-led schools and English centers across Vietnam. Through this program, we are able to provide English language services to women and children across Vietnam, particularly those in the countryside, who would otherwise not have access to them. Teach for Change offers them free or low-cost access to English classes and other educational enhancement and literacy programs.

Our second program, the Empowerment Plan, works towards the goal of supporting marginalized women from the following disadvantaged demographics in Vietnam: single mothers, ethnic minority women, low-income women, domestic violence victims, disabled women, and others. We have created an expansive online network with support groups, as well as offer free vocational training, job placement support, business opportunities, and low-cost or free English classes for their children.
