Position Overview: As a Cat Care Volunteer, you will play an essential role in the daily lives of our office cats. This position is perfect for those who want to make a direct impact on the well-being of cats awaiting adoption. Your responsibilities will include socialization, feeding, cleaning, and overall care for our feline friends.

Key Responsibilities:

• Complete a volunteer application on our website kalamazooanimalrescue.org
• Provide fresh food and water to the cats daily.
• Engage in socialization and playtime to ensure the cats are happy, stimulated, and ready for adoption.
• Clean cages and litter boxes to maintain a hygienic and comfortable environment for the cats.
• Monitor the cats for any signs of illness or distress and report concerns to the office staff.
• Assist in maintaining a clean and organized cat care area.
• Adhere to medication schedule and administer medications as needed.

Requirements:

• A genuine love for cats and an interest in their welfare.
• Ability to follow instructions and adhere to our care and safety guidelines.
• Comfortable handling cats of various temperaments and sizes.
• Availability for a regular volunteer shift, with a commitment to reliability.

Skills and Qualifications:

• No previous experience is required, but a passion for animal care is essential.
• Good observational skills to notice any changes in a cat's health or behavior.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Effective communication skills for coordinating with staff and other volunteers.
• Optional: skills in administering medications to cats
