ORGANIZATION: Idealist.org

Recruiting Organization: Independent Monitoring Boards

The Independent Monitoring Boards (IMB) helps to ensure that proper standards of care and decency are maintained in Immigration Removal Centres (IRC) and Short Term Holding Facilities (STHF) throughout the UK.

We recruit for new members numerous times each year. Please visit our website for further information. If we are not currently looking for new members near you, please add your name to our register and we will contact you when a new opportunity arises in your area.

You need to be enthusiastic, open minded, possess effective communication skills and have the ability to exercise sound, objective judgement. Candidates need to live within 40 miles of their nearest Immigration Removal Centre or Short Term Holding Facility.

We encourage applications from people from minority ethnic communities, young people, those of working age, and people with disabilities, as these groups are under-represented on our existing Boards.

The time commitment is approximately 2 to 3 visits per month, although this will be higher in the first year as members go through induction into the role.

Please visit the IMB website for further information and to apply:
