Position Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and skilled volunteer accountant/financial advisor to support our nonprofit organization in managing its financial operations effectively. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, finance, or auditing, and a passion for supporting nonprofits in achieving their missions. This volunteer role will involve providing guidance on financial best practices, assisting with budgeting and financial planning, and potentially conducting audits to ensure compliance and transparency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Guidance: Provide expert advice and guidance to the organization's leadership team on financial matters, including budgeting, financial reporting, and internal controls.
- Financial Planning: Assist in developing and monitoring annual budgets, forecasts, and financial plans to ensure alignment with organizational goals and priorities.
- Audit Support: Work closely with our team to prepare documents to submit to external auditors to facilitate the annual financial audit process, ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulations.

Mission Statement
Widespread poverty, economic turmoil, and devastating natural disasters create a bleak future for the children of Haiti. Due to extreme poverty, many parents are forced to abandon or relinquish their children because they do not have the ability to feed, care for or educate them. There is currently an orphan epidemic in Haiti - approximately 35,000 children are living outside parental care. The mission of Chances for Children is to provide hope to these children - one child, one family, one community at a time. We believe the answer to Haiti’s orphan epidemic can be solved by strengthening communities and families.
Description
Chances for Children provides hope for children in Haiti. This is accomplished through our feeding programs, micro loans, sustainable farming, education, adoption, women's empowerment programs, orphan care, medical clinic and community development programs. Our goals are to come alongside Haiti to take care of their children in areas where no other services are available. Currently we have a Creche with 30-35 children in it, a pediatric medical clinic, mobile medical clinics, 15-feeding programs giving food security to >4000 children employment for approximately 200 people throughout Haiti.
