GLOBAL’s annual AcceptAbility Gala brings together policymakers from both sides of the aisle, key scientists from NIH, and our Down syndrome community. Together, our advocacy efforts have increased the NIH Down syndrome research and medical care budget by nearly $200 million over the last five years! The AcceptAbility Gala is an opportunity to celebrate our success, especially major new federal research funding increases after years of being one of the least funded genetic conditions. Special guests include dance performances by Robert Wallop and RhythmXpress and an intimate musical performance by Jordin Sparks.

A meal will be provided for volunteers in our volunteer room.

Volunteers will have the opportunity to attend the musical performance by Jordin Sparks.

We ask volunteers to specify which areas they would like to volunteer in, but please note that Global Down Syndrome Foundation will assign the final roles for each volunteer.

Mission Statement

The Global Down Syndrome Foundation is a public non-profit 501(c)(3) dedicated to significantly improving the lives of people with Down syndrome through Research, Medical care, Education and Advocacy.

Description

Established in 2009, GLOBAL’s primary focus is to support the Linda Crnic Institute for Down Syndrome, the first academic home in the United States committed solely to research and medical care for people with Down syndrome. Since Down syndrome is the least-funded genetic condition in the United States, fundraising and government advocacy to correct the alarming disparity of national funding for people with Down syndrome is a major goal.

The Global Down Syndrome Foundation created and organizes the Be Beautiful Be Yourself Fashion Show - the single largest annual fundraiser benefitting people with Down syndrome, as well as the AcceptAbility Gala - which brings together policymakers from both sides of the aisle, key scientists from NIH, and our Down syndrome community. GLOBAL organizes and funds many programs, conferences and grants, including quarterly webinars and the Global Down Syndrome Education Grants.

The Foundation is an inclusive organization without political or religious affiliation or intention.
