Make weekly phone calls to our hospice patients or their caregiver to check on supply needs for the weekend. Calls can be done on a Wednesday or Thursday. We also have patients who get lonely and would enjoy a companion call to just chat about their day! Some patients are on hospice services for months or even years, so a friendly companion call goes a long way in easing anxiety and loneliness.

Good listening and speaking skills are required. Phone calls can be made from your home or from the Compassus office branch in Muncie, but you do need to live in one of the following Indiana counties: Delaware, Madison, Henry, Wayne, Randolph, Jay, Blackford or Grant. These are the counties the Muncie Compassus branch serves, Ability to thoroughly understand and maintain HIPPA is a must for confidentiality.

Compassus hospice volunteers touch the lives of our patients every day! Whether it is providing companionship to a patient or reading to them, volunteers brighten the lives of the patients and families we serve. Whether you choose to work behind the scenes and complete clerical work or working one to one with patient and families, volunteers are valued members of our team. Volunteers receive free training at our local office or virtually via Zoom.
