Jewish Big Brothers Big Sisters (JBBBS) serves all demographics in over 100 cities and towns in Greater Boston. JBBBS’s is seeking a mentor for a 17 yo high school student on the waitlist in the College Mentoring Program. The College Mentoring Program supports first generation college bound high school students with adversity in their background.

"James" (17 YO) is seeking a Big Brother in the College Mentoring Program for first generation college bound high school students with adversity in their backgrounds. James could benefit from having a college mentor to usher him through the process over the next two and half years. His family is from Haiti. He lives near Dedham and is being raised by a single mother. He is thoughtful and polite. He wants to study business. A mentor who is between the ages of 28-50 would be best. Someone who likes playing basketball would be an extra bonus.

The commitment is to meet 2x/mo, 2-4 hours, for 2 ½ years, and to help James to matriculate and stay in college. The College Mentor’s role is to guide the student through the application and matriculation process including taking them to visit college campuses. JBBBS has partnered with Campus Bound, an agency that helps Mentor and Mentee with the application process. Match support is provided by an LICSW. Anyone interested, apply here. Contact Tania@jbbbs.org to schedule a phone call and learn more.
