ABOUT APVAThe Association of African Podcasters and Voice Artists [APVA] is a community-driven organization that seeks to discover, amplify, and celebrate African voice/audio creatives, that is podcasters, voice artists, and spoken word artists. We are dedicated to fostering the growth and development of the audio-creative industry in Africa.
APVA aspires to elevate African voices, highlight the admirable inventive efforts of its youth, and motivate us to own and be united in our own accomplishments and challenges through the most exciting, educational, and engaging dialogues about Africa.
OUR OBJECTIVES- Discover Africa’s Unique voices that are telling and retelling the African narrative.
- Amplify the excellent works of African audio creatives via the African Podcast and Voice Awards, Utukufu; The annual commemoration of Africa Day and other industry-specific events.
- Strengthen the African audio industry by providing home-grown resources that cater to the needs of audio creatives.
- Transform audio skills into viable businesses via the APVA Academy.
- Foster dialogue with international organizations (prospect partners) and explore opportunities to provide tools and resources easily accessed by African audio creatives.
- Partner with and support communities and organizations looking to support the African audio industry.
APVA is looking for a co-host for ICYMI, our popular weekly podcast and bulletin on industry insights and information for the African creative. The ideal candidate is a great talker, reporter, and explainer who lives on and for the internet. APVA welcomes candidates with diverse backgrounds and perspectives.
Duties & Responsibilities- Work with a small team to produce the weekly podcast show that skillfully covers podcast, voiceover and spoken word culture.
- Engage deeply with the internet, especially social media, and look to understand it from a digital native perspective.
- Meet up with weekly deadlines.
- Work closely with the producing team to cultivate a recurring roster of guests and segments.
- Script episodes with your team lead, with research and booking support from the production team.
- Ability to identify interesting stories, trends, etc. from the African Podcast and audio industry.
- Collaborative spirit.
- Reporting skills and experience.
- Ability to work on deadlines.
- Comfort expressing nuanced opinions.
Time dedication is a minimum of five hours per week.
