Are you looking for a way to give back to your community? Do you want to work with a young person who needs support, care, and a role model?
We need YOU to mentor a struggling student in the Antelope Valley.
Be A Mentor is partnering with Lost Angels Children's Project to support struggling youth. This is an in-person mentoring program. You will spend most of your time in the community with your mentee exploring, talking, and learning about their needs.
1 on 1 mentoring gives students more opportunities for success regardless of their background. It’s especially important for youth who may not have consistent adults in their lives to connect with.
All mentors are required to complete a background check and training. And our mentoring coordinator will be available for support throughout the program. We ask that you commit to at least 2-hours per week for a full calendar year. Consistency is important to build trust between you and your mentee.
We have a strong need for BIPOC mentors to support our diverse mentees. Although we welcome everyone with an interest in mentoring to sign up!

Description
The Be A Mentor Program pairs caring adult volunteers from the community with youth in one-to-one relationships. Mentors give of their time to be a friend, answering questions, and providing guidance. Mentors come from a variety of backgrounds and occupations and volunteer their personal time to be a caring friend to a youth. They serve as a role model, advocate, and resource. The purpose of the mentoring relationship is to help youth develop their full potential, both in and outside of the classroom.
