This internship is specifically designed for folks interested in working in the sexuality education field.

This 5-month remote internship includes an extensive training on a variety of sexuality education topics. Interns also develop effective facilitation, workshop planning, and curriculum development skills.

Interns who complete the 5-month program receive a $500 stipend.

INTERN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assisting with curriculum development (creating online games and activities for workshops).
  • Creating effective workshop plans in collaboration with other interns.
  • Co-facilitating online workshops for young people.
  • Creating a variety of supplemental educational materials, including videos and social media posts.

INTERNSHIP SCHEDULE

This internship aims to create a collaborative community of people who learn and unlearn together, support each other on projects, and provide different perspectives and insights into a variety of subject matters. Due to the highly collaborative nature of this internship, we require all interns to work the same schedule.

ALL INTERNS ARE REQUIRED TO ATTEND VIRTUAL GROUP COLLABORATION SESSIONS:

Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm (Eastern Time)

Tuesday, July 16, 2024 through Thursday, December 12, 2024

We believe in resting and recharging here at Masakhane, which translates to lots of breaks during the Tuesday/Thursday sessions, as well as one week-long break every month. These week-long breaks are taken by everyone at Masakhane, and interns are not contacted or tasked with assignments during this time. For a list of these breaks, take a look at our calendar.

What does the day-to-day look like?

The internship days vary depending on what we’re working on. This includes training days filled with interactive games, activities and group discussions; as well as project days where folks work on their curriculum activities, videos, social media, etc.

STIPENDS

This 5-month internship comes with a $500 stipend. Stipends are distributed at the end of the internship in December.

ACCESSIBILITY

Our collaboration sessions all take place via Zoom. The sessions are captioned using the auto-transcription on Zoom, and recorded for interns to revisit throughout their internship. Interns are expected to participate as fully as possible, including being on camera (when necessary).

Interns are also expected to watch videos, read our curricula (which is in PDF format), and utilize various online educational tools.
