Sunnyside East Village has an opening for a volunteer position as Tech Support Coordinator. In this role you will advise us on best practices with our various platforms and applications, including Google Workspace, Mailchimp, Wordpress, and Helpful Village. And you will provide computer training and troubleshooting to our Village volunteers and members.
Sunnyside East Village provides older adults in Happy Valley and Clackamas with ways to comfortably age-in-place. It's part of a national movement to embrace the strategy of bringing services to people rather than moving people to services. We will soon be part of Villages NW, a 501(c)(3) non-profit network.

Villages NW is reshaping the experience of aging. We keep older adults connected and active, contributing members of the community. With 11 neighborhood-based virtual villages, seniors make new friends close to home, participate in online coffees, happy hours and other social activities. We also help each other out when needed with neighbor-to-neighbor home maintenance, yard work and errands.
Description
The Village Movement is a holistic approach to vibrant, healthy aging. It combines a meaningful purpose in life; finding new friends as we begin to lose spouses and see less of long-time friends and neighbors; familiar surroundings; and preserving financial assets against the day when a higher level of care might be necessary. In addition to these quality of life issues, Villages fill gaps in support and services, which enable older adults to live independently.
We have 11 neighborhood-based villages with 600 members and a comparable number of volunteers in the Greater Portland Metro area. About half of our volunteers are also members.
Villagers are members rather than clients. About half volunteer in some way whether it is driving someone to the doctor, doing a little yard work, checking in with a member who is mostly homebound, working on activities or doing Village support.
