Position Overview1st Gen College Hub, a pivotal initiative by Believe in Me, is dedicated to empowering first-generation college students by providing a comprehensive suite of online resources and support. Our mission is to bridge the gap in college preparation through personalized guidance, mentorship programs, financial aid information, and more, all delivered through a cutting-edge web and mobile platform.
We are seeking a creative and skilled Volunteer UI Designer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be instrumental in designing intuitive, accessible, and visually compelling user interfaces for our web and mobile platforms, directly impacting the lives of first-generation college students by enhancing their digital experience.
Key Responsibilities- Collaborate closely with the project team to understand user needs and project requirements, contributing innovative design solutions that align with our mission and user goals.
- Design high-fidelity UI mockups and prototypes for web and mobile applications, ensuring a consistent and engaging user experience across all platforms.
- Apply best practices in UI design, considering accessibility, navigation, and responsiveness to create designs that are both aesthetically pleasing and functional.
- Work with front-end developers to ensure accurate implementation of UI designs, providing design assets and guidance as needed.
- Participate in user research and usability testing to gather feedback and iterate on design solutions to continuously improve the user experience.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of design systems, UI guidelines, and documentation to ensure design consistency and efficiency across the team.
- Stay updated on the latest UI design trends, tools, and technologies, bringing fresh ideas and perspectives to the team.
- Proven experience in UI design, with a strong portfolio showcasing your work on web and mobile applications.
- Proficiency in design tools (e.g., Sketch, Adobe XD, Figma) and a solid understanding of design principles and techniques.
- Knowledge of front-end development languages (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, Vue) is a plus.
- Familiarity with accessibility standards and responsive design to ensure our platforms are inclusive and accessible to all users.
- Exceptional attention to detail, creativity, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities, with a collaborative spirit.
- A passion for education, technology, and making a positive impact on the lives of first-generation college students.
