LEAD UI/UX DESIGNER
VOLUNTEER JOB DESCRIPTION
Position OverviewBelieve in Me is seeking a creative and dedicated Volunteer Lead UI/UX Designer to join our team in developing the 1st Gen College Hub app. This platform is designed to empower first-generation college students by providing personalized guidance, college search tools, financial aid information, mentorship programs, and more. The Lead UI/UX Designer will play a pivotal role in ensuring the app is intuitive, user-friendly, and impactful for our target audience.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the design of intuitive and engaging user interfaces for both web and mobile versions of the 1st Gen College Hub app.
- Collaborate with the project team to understand user needs and translate them into innovative design solutions.
- Create and iterate on wireframes, user flows, and prototypes to explore and communicate design concepts.
- Conduct user research and usability testing to gather feedback and refine designs.
- Work closely with developers to ensure accurate implementation of designs and maintain design consistency across the platform.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive UI/UX design guide to ensure a consistent design language throughout the app.
- Advocate for user-centered design principles and best practices within the team.
- Contribute to project documentation and provide design support as needed.
- Proven experience as a UI/UX Designer, with a strong portfolio showcasing your design skills and previous projects.
- Proficiency in design tools such as Sketch, Adobe XD, Figma, or similar.
- Strong understanding of responsive design principles and experience designing for mobile platforms.
- Knowledge of user-centered design methodologies and usability principles.
- Ability to conduct user research and usability testing to inform design decisions.
- Excellent visual design skills with sensitivity to user-system interaction.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to articulate design concepts and rationale to team members and stakeholders.
- A passion for education and a commitment to the mission of supporting first-generation college students.
