VOLUNTEER JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Overview

Believe in Me seeks passionate and skilled Volunteer Mobile App Developers to join our project team dedicated to empowering first-generation college students. As a Volunteer Mobile App Developer, you will play a crucial role in developing a comprehensive mobile platform that provides support and resources to assist students in overcoming the challenges of college preparation. This platform will feature personalized guidance, college search tools, financial aid information, mentorship programs, and more, all designed to facilitate the college preparation journey for students who are the first in their families to pursue higher education.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with a cross-functional team to define, design, and implement new features for both iOS and Android applications, as outlined in our project roadmap and technical requirements document.
  • Develop responsive and intuitive mobile applications using leading mobile development frameworks and languages such as React Native, Swift (for iOS), or Kotlin (for Android).
  • Ensure seamless integration with external APIs, databases (e.g., MongoDB), and systems for functionalities like college applications, financial aid, and scholarship databases.
  • Implement secure authentication, authorization practices, data encryption, and robust input validation to safeguard user data and privacy.
  • Participate in the entire application lifecycle, focusing on coding, debugging, and testing.
  • Contribute to the creation of scalable, maintainable, and performant software solutions.
  • Assist in the preparation of project documentation, user guides, and technical materials to support application development and maintenance.
Qualifications
  • Proven experience as a mobile app developer or in a similar role, with a portfolio of deployed projects on the App Store or Google Play Store.
  • Proficiency in mobile development languages and frameworks (e.g., React Native, Swift for iOS, Kotlin for Android).
  • Experience with front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript) for mobile web components.
  • Familiarity with server-side languages and frameworks, particularly for API development.
  • Knowledge of database technology such as MongoDB and experience integrating mobile applications with external databases and APIs.
  • Understanding of mobile security practices, data protection technologies, and privacy standards.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work in a dynamic and collaborative team environment.
