Position Overview1st Gen College Hub, an initiative by Believe in Me, is seeking a passionate and skilled Volunteer Lead App Developer to spearhead the development of our comprehensive web and mobile platform. This platform is dedicated to supporting first-generation college students by offering personalized guidance, college search tools, financial aid information, mentorship programs, and more. The Lead App Developer will play a crucial role in bringing this vision to life, working alongside a dedicated team to create a tool that makes a significant impact on students navigating the complexities of college preparation.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the development team in designing, implementing, and refining new features in line with our project roadmap and technical requirements.
- Utilize front-end technologies such as Next.js and TypeScript, coupled with back-end technologies including server-side scripting with Next.js, to develop responsive web applications.
- Ensure robust integration with external APIs, databases (NoSQL, MongoDB), and systems to support essential functionalities.
- Uphold the highest standards of data security, implementing secure authentication, authorization practices, data encryption, and robust input validation.
- Oversee the application lifecycle, prioritizing coding, debugging, and thorough testing to ensure a high-quality product.
- Drive the creation of scalable, maintainable, and performant software, ensuring the platform's long-term success and reliability.
- Coordinate the preparation of project documentation and technical materials, facilitating clear communication and documentation practices within the team.
- Mentor and guide team members, fostering a collaborative, inclusive, and productive work environment.
- Demonstrated experience in web development, evidenced by a portfolio of deployed projects.
- Strong proficiency in front-end languages (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript) and frameworks (React, Angular, Vue).
- In-depth knowledge of server-side languages and frameworks, particularly Next.js.
- Experience with database technologies such as MongoDB and a thorough understanding of web security practices.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work under pressure.
- Outstanding communication skills, with the capacity to lead a team effectively and collaborate across functions.
