ORGANIZATION: Koreatown Youth & Community Center

Join the City of Los Angeles and the Koreatown Youth and Community Center as we celebrate Asian Pacific American Heritage Month, clean up our neighborhood and make it more livable for our community members.

Why: While on the surface this may sound like just a clean up, events like these not only make the neighborhood more pleasant to look at, but can improve neighborhood self-image and confidence. A community cleanup is a boon for any neighborhood, simply by increasing connections among neighbors and volunteers and creating community. When it brings the possibility of improving lives as well, its value can be even greater. In a typical year, KYCC removes well over 2,000 bags of trash through our cleanup events so your contribution means a lot to us!

Who: The mission of the Koreatown Youth and Community Center, Inc. (KYCC) is to serve the evolving needs of the Korean American population in the greater Los Angeles Area as well as the multi-ethnic Koreatown community programs and services are directed toward recently immigrated, economically disadvantaged youth and families, and to promote community socioeconomic empowerment.

What to Expect:

Volunteers will work in teams to canvas parts of the communities to remove trash.

This is a great opportunity for groups and those wanting to spend their morning giving back to the community.

Volunteers may park for free at Koreatown Plaza at 928 S Western Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90006/ Please note it’s an 8-10 minute walk, or you may park on the street but please be mindful of posted restrictions. Generally speaking, if you head west of Wilton parking isn’t horrible (although we’re expecting a lot of volunteers).

Carpooling and public transit is always encouraged!

What's Required:

KYCC will provide all supplies.

Please wear comfortable clothing, closed-toe shoes and bring a reusable water bottle.

Description

The Koreatown Youth and Community Center was established in 1975 to support a growing population of at-risk youth in Los Angeles.
