Volunteer Photographer

ORGANIZATION: National Park Service

Duties:

Volunteer Photographers donate their time and talents to capture scenic and recreational shots of our Lassen Volcanic National Park. Volunteer Photographers document wildlife, natural wonders, volunteer activities, park events, and other requests. Photos may be used by the park for a wide variety of purposes, including social media, NP Gallery, website posts, and event advertising. The main goal of Park Volunteer Photographers is capturing park resources and activities while encouraging volunteer stewardship by promoting the area's natural beauty.

  • Photograph the park’s natural, cultural, and recreational resources including but not limited to trails, wildflowers, wildlife, etc.
  • Take high quality photos documenting events, interpretive programs, education activities, resource management activities (including staff and volunteers).
  • Photograph night sky programs. Comfort with basic astrophotography.
  • Know the interpretive programs and offerings for the day and relay that information to park visitors.
  • Wear the mandatory Lassen volunteer uniform according to the appropriate season. Beige volunteer top, volunteer jacket, volunteer coat, khaki pants, appropriate khaki shorts, brown or neutral colored hiking boots or snow boots.
  • Will take and operate a park radio for safety purposes. Also, willingness to hike front country trails and be a friendly and informative point of contact for park visitors who approach.
  • Willing to help with park videography.

Note: All works are credited to the photographer as NPS Photo/ (your name). All images taken during course of work will be property of U.S. Federal Government.
