Team Hope Welcome Volunteers of All Abilities!

Families, corporate groups, and individuals of all abilities are welcome to volunteer. We are always looking for youth clubs, and corporate and service-oriented community groups to lend a hand before, during, and after our events. Whether you’re living with HD and just want to say thank you at the Finish Line, or you’re ready to help with set up, there’s a place for you at the Jersey Shore 5K & Team Hope Walk on Saturday, May 4, 2024!

The Team Hope Walk program is HDSA’s signature grassroots fundraising campaign designed to provide hope and support for those touched by this devastating disease. All proceeds support HDSA’s mission to improve the lives of people affected by HD and their families. Since their inception in 2007, Team Hope Walks have occurred in over 100 different cities and have raised more than $22 million for the cause.

Volunteer Activities include but are not limited to setting up the site, registration, greeters, working with our top fundraisers, organizing the check-in area, handing out water to walkers, setting up signage along the walk route and directing runners, cheering at the finish, tear down and assisting with various tasks as needed, etc.

Registration is free of charge to volunteers and includes lunch, and the race/walk will end with a celebration at Bar Anticipation in Lake Como, NJ.

Mission Statement

The Huntington's Disease Society of America (HDSA) is the premier nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of everyone affected by Huntington's disease. From community services and education to advocacy and research, HDSA is the world's leader in providing help for today, hope for tomorrow for people with Huntington's disease and their families. In the battle against Huntington's disease no one fights alone. At HDSA, family is everything.

Description

The purpose of our chapter is:

  • To help individuals affected by Huntington's disease and their families through support and services
  • To educate both the public and health care professionals about Huntington's disease
  • To promote and support research directed at discovering a treatment and ultimately a cure for Huntington's disease.

While there is still no cure for HD, today there is more hope than ever that we can beat this disease. Until then, our chapter will strive to provide support and sustenance to our HD families, knowing that while research provides hope for the future, we must provide care for our HD community today. We have become an active community, educating ourselves, sharing information, and advocating for ourselves and our loved ones.
