About the Opportunity

We are seeking volunteers to help us improve the quality and depth of our media arts programs, increase the number of programs, and provide the inclusive, creative, safe space that middle and high school students need to thrive. Action Youth Media committee members support the success of the organization's executive director, staff, and board of trustees. Our volunteers provide valuable perspectives, expertise, and experience to help the organization best welcome and serve youth facing obstacles to well-being, whether it’s systemic racism, anti-LGBTQ+ prejudice, or underpaid minimum-wage jobs.

Each committee typically meets remotely on a monthly basis, however, there are also opportunities to meet in person a few times each year. Here are a few of our committees, but we're also open to creating new opportunities if you're skills meet current needs.

  • Budget & Finance Committee - assists the Board in fulfilling its oversight responsibilities with respect to reviewing and monitoring spending policy for the organization consistent with the organization’s long term goals; reviewing, approving and monitoring the organization’s annual budget, including program and management appropriations and capital spending.
  • Fundraising (Development) Committee - works with the Executive Director to attract major donors and fundraising volunteers. The Fundraising Committee leads the annual fundraising efforts for the organization through partnerships, networking, donor and sponsorship activities for the organization, social media and other means.
  • Governance Committee - responsible for reviewing and periodically recommending updates to the corporate organizational documents; assisting the Executive Director with the annual audit; recommending selection of Trustees (new and renewing Trustees, including officer selection and committee assignments); and providing guidance on other matters relating to Board functionality as they may arise.

Consider connecting with us if you have an interest in our mission, some experience in media arts or youth development, or may be qualified to represent the under-served families and communities in this region.
