Museum Collections Volunteer/Intern

ORGANIZATION: Culture and Heritage Museums

Interested in a career in museums, but do not want to lead tours and programs? Try interning/volunteering with CHM’s Collections Department. Collections staff oversee the archaeology, anthropology, art, history, and natural history collections with thousands of objects and artwork spread across all CHM sites. An internship in the department would provide invaluable hands-on experience for those more interested in the behind-the-scenes happenings of a museum where staff teaches interns how to properly handle, preserve, inventory, and clean collection items. Previous internship projects include digitizing the art collection, inventorying the natural history collection, relocating a collection to a different building, artist and object research, and database entry. No museum experience needed; staff will gladly teach and train.

Collections Interns do need to commit to at least 25 hours during a semester.
