Our volunteers are a huge part of our team. Our purpose is to provide comfort, compassion, dignity, and peace to terminally ill patients and their families through a holistic approach to physical, spiritual, and emotional care by professionally trained hospice teams and specialized community resources.
Many of our volunteers provide direct support in the patient’s home or a nursing facility with the purpose of companionship, caregiver relief, or celebrating special events. We also have various administrative opportunities for volunteers and some prefer a mix of both.

About Gentiva Hospice Augusta
Location:
24 Stone St, Ste. 106, Augusta, ME 04330, US
Mission Statement
To provide exceptional care with empathy for our patients and their families so they may live with comfort, dignity, and respect.
Description
People often enter hospice care when they’re diagnosed with a life-limiting condition and curative treatments are either no longer effective or create side effects that prolong discomfort or pain.
Hospice is based on a personalized care plan and not a specific location, most patients can choose to receive hospice care in the familiar surroundings of their own home. They can also choose to receive hospice care at a relative’s or a friend’s home, an assisted living facility, or a nursing home
When someone is facing a life-limiting illness, our place is by their side, providing comfort and compassionate support for patients and their loved ones so they may experience the best possible quality of life.
As a hospice volunteer, you become a valuable part of our care team and play a vital role in improving the quality of life for those in our care. There are so many ways to help; everything from spending time with a patient, running an errand, or doing light housekeeping to even providing invaluable administrative support.
Our lives are not measured by what we get, but by what we give. If you have a natural gift for empathy and want to make a difference, we can help you be a force for good in the lives of those most in need.
You belong here.
Our volunteer coordinators will help you find that special something that makes your care truly special, and then match your talents with opportunities in your area.
