Location: San Luis Obispo Juvenile Hall

Time Commitment: Two Saturdays each month, 7:00pm - 8:30pm

Role Overview:

We are seeking dedicated individuals to join our team as Volunteer Youth Mentors at San Luis Obispo Juvenile Hall. As a mentor, you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of young individuals by providing guidance, support, and positive interactions during their time at the facility.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Engage with youth in meaningful conversations and activities.
  2. Serve as a positive role model by demonstrating empathy, respect, and understanding.
  3. Take initiative to initiate conversations and activities with youth.
  4. Foster an open-minded and flexible environment where youth feel comfortable expressing themselves.
  5. Lead by example, demonstrating leadership qualities and encouraging positive behavior.
  6. Maintain consistency in attendance and commitment to the role.

Requirements:

  1. Completion of extensive training provided by the facility.
  2. Successful completion of four background checks.
  3. Ability to commit to at least two Saturdays each month for a minimum of one year.
  4. Genuine desire to make a difference in the lives of youth and dedication to the role.
