ORGANIZATION: Friends of the Mississippi River

Volunteers Plant Trees

Join Friends of the Mississippi River staff and volunteers to plant trees and shrubs at Applewood Preserve, a new FMR restoration site. With the guidance of FMR staff, volunteers will plant natives trees and shrubs in the preserve's woodland. These new plantings will help in our efforts to improve biodiversity and restore habitat.

All are welcome. No experience is necessary. However, registration is required and capacity is limited. All tools, gloves, and training will be provided. Volunteers will need to be able to carry tools, water buckets and small trees and shrubs to the planting site and carry tools and supplies back to our meeting spot at the end of the event.

Mission Statement

Friends of the Mississippi River (FMR) engages people to protect, restore and enhance the Mississippi River and its watershed in the Twin Cities region.

Description

Friends of the Mississippi River is proud to work with roughly 3,000 volunteers annually.

We keep volunteering simple, fun and satisfying -- there are no applications, and you can sign up for one event or several. We list events especially in need of volunteers here on VolunteerMatch.com, but maintain a full calendar of 60+ events a year at www.fmr.org/events.

Our project work includes conservation and restoration of natural areas and habitat, education on watershed protection issues, and organizing activities that connect the public to the Mississippi River.
