Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: Idealist.org

Recruiting Organization: Region360

We are partnering with collectives in Central America (initially focused on El Salvador) and the US to support the launch of a new human rights awareness campaign.

Region360 is a multi-disciplinary, international team with diverse expertise and perspectives focused on climate change education.

Note: Please read the position description fully and, if interested, submit a basic cover letter outlining your interest, a recent CV/Resume, a writing sample, and three professional references to cruiz@region360.org. Due to the sensitive nature of the work, we will review and conduct basic background research on potential candidates, you are welcome to provide additional professional reference materials (LinkedIn, publications, portfolios).

Advanced Spanish and excellent writing skills are required for this position.

This is a great opportunity for graduate students and young professionals to gain first-hand exposure to social, political, economic, environmental, and political processes affecting Central America (focused initially on El Salvador), as well as US-Latin America relations. Our partners in Central America are working directly with victims of violence and political repression and our allies in the USA are developing awareness campaigns and diplomatic engagement with the policy and international community to develop a new solidarity movement. Only advanced undergraduates with strong backgrounds in Latin American studies will be considered.

This is an opportunity to develop skills and a professional background on human rights campaigning, human rights journalism, policy and diplomacy analysis, US-Latin America relations, and contemporary Central American politics and cultural affairs.

We welcome students interested in developing graduate research around these topics, and we can provide some mentoring and support, but we expect you to have backing and authorization from your academic department.

Former Region360 volunteers and Fellows have secured positions and pursued careers in climate change and Latin American studies in government agencies, nonprofit organizations, community organizing, and academia.

We are looking for volunteers to help us manage and scale the web, social media, and content development of a human rights campaign, including video, audio, and text.
