Are you ready to offer a listening ear, write letters, or help out in the hospice office? Do you enjoy music, sharing stories, or playing cards? Whatever talents, passions, or interests you have can be valuable assets as a hospice volunteer. At Gentiva Hospice, you will have the freedom to choose how much and what type of tasks you want to take on. Some examples of typical volunteer duties include:

- Listening to a patient's concerns

- Providing comfort and support

- Engaging in the patient's hobbies, such as playing board games or discussing current events

- Recording memories for the patient or assisting with correspondence

- Light housekeeping if needed

- Allowing caregivers some time for self-care

- Assisting in the office

Description

Volunteering presents an excellent opportunity to contribute to the community while enhancing one's resume and college applications. As a hospice volunteer, individuals can select their level of involvement and the specific activities they wish to partake in. Common volunteer responsibilities include attentive listening to patient's concerns, providing a comforting and supportive presence, engaging in the patient's hobbies, such as participating in board games or discussing current events, documenting memories for the patient, offering light housekeeping assistance if required, affording caregivers respite, and aiding with administrative tasks at the office.
