MiniNature Reserve is seeking passionate and skilled individuals to join our Board of Directors. As a growing grassroots nonprofit committed to urban habitat restoration, native plant advocacy, and environmental justice, we are looking for leaders who share our dedication to empowering underserved communities and combating climate change.

About MiniNature Reserve:
MiniNature Reserve is based in Oxnard, California, and works to restore urban habitats, create community gardens, and provide environmental education. We focus on engaging BIPOC and Gen Z communities, providing them with the tools and resources to fight environmental injustice and restore the land around them.
Qualifications:
We are looking for individuals with a passion for environmental conservation, social justice, and nonprofit growth. The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience in fundraising, grant writing, and donor cultivation
- Expertise in community outreach, engagement, and advocacy
- Knowledge of policy development and strategic planning
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience in nonprofit work or serving on a board (a plus)
- Knowledge or experience in law, marketing, accounting, or grant writing (a plus)
- Bilingual in English & Spanish (preferred)
- Passion for environmental conservation and social justice
Responsibilities:
As a board member, you will:
- Contribute expertise in law, marketing, grant writing, fundraising, or accounting services to support the organization
- Help raise a minimum of $1,000 annually through sponsors, fundraising, or personal donations
- Volunteer for workshops hosted by MiniNature Reserve (set-up, sales, take-down)
- Support the general operation of our nursery outside of workshop days
- Volunteer for tabling and/or selling merchandise at external events
- Participate in strategic decision-making and offer guidance on organizational development
We are open to remote board members as well!

We exist to restore nature in urban environments through landscape projects that engage, educate, and empower the local community.
Description
MiniNature Reserve is based in the fastest-warming county in the United States, Ventura, California which is wholly devoid of green spaces. A majority of its residents are low-income and do not have the privilege of excess time to engage in climate action. In direct response to these conditions, MiniNature Reserve was registered as a Gen Z BIPOC-led grassroots NPO that restores Indigenous plants in urban environments.
What started as a backyard nursery has expanded to a dynamic network of a youth-led Advisory Board, 700+ volunteers, 2,000+ native plants restored across 30,000 square feet of land, and 5,500+ volunteer hours.Our Supporters:
