Fort Frederica is looking for volunteers to support the Interpretive Rangers by staffing the visitor center and giving guided tours of the grounds to visitors both on foot and on golf carts for those with mobility issues. Volunteers who show an interest and aptitude in living history can also learn our historic trades such as blacksmithing, canoe making, candle making, and weaving. Experienced living history volunteers could eventually have the chance to partake in blackpowder demonstrations.
- Volunteers under 18 years old are required to have parental consent.
- A valid driver’s license is required for anyone operating an NPS vehicle/golf cart.
- All volunteers are required to wear an official volunteer uniform shirt with name tags, which will be provided. Volunteers will need pants without holes and comfortable close toed shoes while in service. Volunteers wishing to do living history can/will receive appropriate period clothing.
- Local Volunteers welcome and do not need to stay in RV on site!
- Volunteers that live outside of the local area and wishing to stay at Fort Frederica, will be provided an RV pad with full hookups, on-site laundry, and Wi-Fi. These Volunteers are required to work 30 hours a week to maintain their position with RV pad and we ask for a 1-3month term (negotiable). Only volunteers 18 years and older may qualify for RV pad/housing unless they are accompanied by a parent/guardian.
