ORGANIZATION: Family Promise of Greater Denver

This opportunity is working directly with our families. We often need volunteers to help with tutoring, mentoring, helping with computers, arts & crafts, and being present for our family's needs. Trauma informed care is preferred but not mandatory and deescelation skills are also helpful tools. You will be working alongside our Shelter Family Specialist assisting with needs that may come up.

1 Shift

  • 12:00 PM to 05:00 PM MST - FULL
    You will be assisting our Shelter Family Specialist with spending time with the families and assisting with their needs.

Our mission is to form relationships with families at risk of or experiencing homelessness by providing shelter, meals, and a spectrum of supportive services as they obtain permanent stability.

Description

Family Promise of Greater Denver provides shelter, meals, rental assistance, and supportive services to families experiencing homelessness in the Denver area. We also work with families on employment, long-term housing solutions and other goals to ensure self-sufficiency and a brighter future.

Family Promise of Greater Denver began serving homeless families in 1997 and is part of a national network of 180+ affiliates. Since our founding, we’ve helped more than 1,000 families, including 1,900 children. Today, an average of 70% of families leave with housing and 85% of adults secure employment while they’re in the program!

REQUIREMENTS

  • Background Check
  • Must be at least 18
  • This shift is five hours. You will be relieving the morning volunteer and working directly with the families.
  • I am looking for a person that can do various tasks including but not limited to: playing with the kids, helping parents do housing and job searches, mentoring and/or tutoring.
