Recruiting Organization: Peace Economy Project
Overview:The Peace Economy Project (PEP), a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting peace, economic justice, and reallocating resources from military spending to social and environmental needs, is seeking a Research Volunteer. This role is crucial in supporting our advocacy and policy development efforts through in-depth research and analysis of topics related to peace economics, military spending, and social justice.
Responsibilities:- Conduct Research: Perform detailed research on specified topics, utilizing a variety of sources such as academic journals, government reports, and non-governmental publications.
- Data Analysis: Analyze quantitative and qualitative data to identify trends, challenges, and opportunities that support the organization's mission and objectives.
- Report Writing: Compile research findings into clear, concise reports, policy briefs, and other documents for internal and external use. Ensure that all research products are accurate, reliable, and accessible to a broad audience.
- Literature Reviews: Conduct thorough reviews of existing literature to inform research projects and support the organization's advocacy positions.
- Support Advocacy Efforts: Provide research support for advocacy campaigns, including preparing materials for policy advocacy and public education efforts.
- Collaboration: Work closely with other team members, including policy analysts and communication specialists, to ensure research aligns with organizational goals and public messaging.
- A strong interest in and commitment to the mission of the Peace Economy Project.
- Excellent research and analytical skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information into clear findings.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a remote team.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Prior experience in research, particularly in economics, political science, peace studies, or a related field, is preferred but not required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with data analysis tools are advantageous.
This is a flexible, remote volunteer position requiring approximately 5-10 hours per week. The specific hours can be adjusted to fit the volunteer's schedule, but a commitment to meeting agreed-upon deadlines is essential.
Location:As this is a remote position, volunteers can be based anywhere with reliable internet access.
