BECOME A LOCAL DISASTER VOLUNTEER TODAY- Come spend one Saturday with us, and you'll be well on your way to becoming a fully-qualified disaster response volunteer by the end of the day. You'll meet other great volunteers and staff members from the American Red Cross, enjoy an engaging and interactive day of learning, and become prepared to answer the call the next time there's a home fire or other local disaster in Decatur or Macon County.
We don't jump out of airplanes or run into burning buildings....we simply SHOW UP and bring our compassion and care to people right when they need it the most, right where they are. When someone has just been impacted by a disaster and has possibly lost their home, they need comfort, hope, and practical assistance like a safe place to sleep and clean toiletries. You can provide that as a Red Cross disaster volunteer. We can teach you how. Since this training includes the lunch hours, we will provide a light lunch. Please let us know if you have any food allergies or other dietary restrictions.
