About the MASC PAC
The mission of the Massachusetts Sierra Club Political Action Committee (MASC PAC) is to support candidates for state and local office whose records and policy platforms align with the Sierra Club’s values and to otherwise advance pro-environmental legislation at the state and local levels. The MASC PAC contributes to the campaigns of pro-environment candidates in elections identified as "priority races" by the PAC Board in conjunction with the Political Committee of the Massachusetts Chapter of the Sierra Club.
About the Role
The MASC PAC Board meets virtually once a month for 40 minutes to plan fundraising initiatives, identify priority campaigns, and discuss candidate support. In addition to attending regular meetings, volunteer members of the MASC PAC Board spend 1-3 hours per week on the following responsibilities:
- Researching Sierra Club-endorsed candidates running for election to identify priority campaigns
- Liaising with Sierra Club Chapter staff, members, and/or local groups
- Giving presentations at Chapter or group events to promote the PAC
- Phone banking on behalf of the PAC
- Updating the PAC’s Facebook page, providing updates to supporters
- Drafting fundraising emails, blog posts, or other written updates
- Coordinating fundraising events
Exact responsibilities of Board members reflect individuals’ interests and experience within the mission of the PAC.
Get Involved
To get involved with the MASC PAC, please email info@masssierraclubpac.com. We welcome volunteer Board members from across Massachusetts who are passionate about environmental justice, combating climate change, and making Massachusetts a leader on bold environmental policy.

Mission Statement
To explore, enjoy, and protect the wild places of the earth; To practice and promote the responsible use of the earth's ecosystems and resources; To educate and enlist humanity to protect and restore the quality of the natural and human environment; and to use all lawful means to carry out these objectives.
Description
Founded by legendary conservationist John Muir in 1892, the Sierra Club is now the nation's largest and most influential grassroots environmental organization - with more than 2.7 million members and supporters. Our successes range from protecting millions of acres of wilderness to helping pass the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, and Endangered Species Act. More recently, we've made history by leading the charge to move away from the dirty fossil fuels that cause climate disruption and toward a clean energy economy. Here in Massachusetts, we have an over 45-year legacy of protecting the environment with successful legislative, advocacy, and educational campaigns.
