Interested in helping bring the joy of the outdoors to NYC youth? Volunteer as a host family to make a difference in a child's life as part of The Fresh Air Fund's Friendly Towns program! Host a child for one week for the summer and make memories that will last a lifetime. The Fresh Air Fund is committed to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging and welcomes host families from all backgrounds to reflect the New York City communities we serve.
The areas that we are currently recruiting Host Families in are:
- Connecticut
- New Jersey
- New York: Long Island, North up to the Saratoga Springs area, West to the Binghamton area
- Massachusetts: Western MA (the Berkshires and Pioneer Valley areas)
- Pennsylvania: Eastern PA: all of Eastern PA up to the Harrisburg area
- Rhode Island

Mission Statement
The Fresh Air Fund (The Fund), is a nonprofit youth development organization that has provided free, life-changing outdoor summer experiences to more than 1.8 million children from New York City’s underserved communities.
Description
The Fresh Air Fund has provided high-quality outdoor programming to more than 1.8 million New York City youth. Each year, thousands of children (between ages 8-18 years old)experience outdoor summer adventures through visits with volunteer host families along the East Coast and at The Fund's five overnight summer camps in Fishkill, NY, with an additional camp in The Bronx, NY. Fresh Air children also have the opportunity to participate in year-round leadership and educational programs held at our NYC Office.
