Who We Are

Kitty of Angels ("KoA") is a 501(c)(3) non-profit that provides funds and resources for homeless cats and kittens in Los Angeles County. Our primary focus is on animals at risk of being euthanized in city shelters, including underage kittens and cats with health needs. We match these at-risk animals with volunteers within our ever growing foster network, and we host community-based events with Camp Kitty to help find these cats or kittens loving fur-ever homes.

Role purpose

We're looking for an experienced and organized Budget Manager to perform creation, planning٫ evaluation٫ design and implementation of our rescue's budget and to help us with budgeting for future projects and grant proposals. Your duties will also include reviewing creating budgets, making reports and preparing related documentation.

We expect you to possess analytical and mathematical skills and to be able to present financial data. A degree in Accounting or Finance would be a bonus٫ as well as sound knowledge of legal regulations in the accounting and budgeting area.

Role responsibilities

  • Analyze company's financial information (such as cash management, expenditures, and revenues) making sure that company's financial operations do not exceed budget limits
  • Review budget suggestions and requests
  • Review completed budgets for compliance with legal regulations
  • Design and present budget-models
  • Design effective budgeting policies and procedures٫ and manage their implementation
  • Develop suggestions on spending to optimize the resulting budget
  • Compare company's estimated financial results with the actual ones at the end of each reporting period and analyze the differences
  • Present yearly budget results to company's executives and top managers
  • Make forecasts about budget needs for future accounting periods

Knowledge, skills and experience

  • Must love cats and kittens!
  • 2+ years' experience of working as a Budget Manager or Budget Analyst
  • Good practical experience with financial٫ accounting and statistical software
  • Good knowledge of MS Excel including advanced tools and formulas٫ complex tables and charts
  • Experience of using forecasting and data analytics methods
  • Excellent analytical and numeracy skills
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Familiarity with best practices and regulations in accounting and financial areas
  • Ability to present budget and fiscal data in clear and comprehensive manner
  • Have a BSc or MSc degree in Accounting٫ Finance or other relevant areas is a plus

Our immediate goal is to place at-risk animals into foster homes until they are able to be adopted into loving homes. While fostering is an immediate goal, we are also focused on adoptions, partnering with shelters and communities. While achieving our goals, we want to share every step of our journey.

Description

We are a foster-based rescue helping cats and kittens, our focus being neonatal kittens which are at most risk in the shelters. We are volunteer run from the top to the bottom, but as we grow, we need more administrative-based volunteers.
