As a Board Member You Will Have The Opportunity To:

  • Help shape the future for children, families and educators in our community by ensuring TCG fulfills its mission and vision.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to the CEO as they develop and implement TCG’s strategic goals.
  • Contribute to creating a diverse, equitable and inclusive organization for children, families, employees, Board of Directors and the larger community.

Mission Statement

The mission of The Community Group is to create, manage, and nurture high-quality programs focused on education and related services that support families.

Description

The organization was founded in 1970 as the Community Day Care Center of Lawrence, a preschool with an enrollment of 20 children, since inception we have grown to an agency that manages:

  • a successful charter public school
  • education and care programs dedicated to the healthy development of infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and school-age children
  • a robust out-of-school time enrichment program
  • resources that facilitate access to early education and care for families, including a Child Care Resource and Referral program
  • a training and workforce development program to help shape the next generation of educators

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be at least 18
  • The Board of Directors meet approximately seven times per year with one meeting being a Saturday morning retreat. Members are asked to serve on at least one committee, the number of meetings varies but normally three to four per year.
  • TCG seeks Directors with diverse personal, educational and professional skills/experiences who are familiar with or have a connection to the community of Lawrence, MA.
