Volunteer Board Member (multiple positions)

Teaneck Creek Conservancy is seeking board members to support our efforts. We are particularly seeking to recruit new members who have strong community connections in the Teaneck and larger Bergen County communities to help our organization re-establish itself after a 2-year closure during the COVID pandemic for a significant transformation of our park. We are the first ecological restoration initiative in a county park in Bergen County: we now have green stormwater management systems and 20 acres of freshwater wetland that are free and open to the public. We are seeking the guidance of energetic and community-oriented team players who can help us re-emerged in a post-COVID world after our 2 year hiatus.

We are especially interested in board members with experience in grant writing, development, fundraising, accounting, and marketing, but we also want people who see themselves as supportive of environmental initiatives like conservation and environmental education.

Expectations:

Board meetings are monthly and virtual. Typically about 2 hours in the evening to accommodate working professionals. (If you have parenting or other commitments in the evening, please do continue to consider us as our board meeting schedule can be changed to meet the availability of all our members. Evenings is what currently works for our board).

Serve on, or lead at least 1 committee. (Meets monthly/as needed). Current committees include: Eco-Art, Marketing & Communication, Events, Membership (forming).

Execute Strategic Plan in concert with board and staff. We have a one year strategic plan to help us overcome our current challenges. We're happy to chat more with prospective members to see if these challenges excite you.

Represent the Conservancy at organization programs & events and within the community. Be our ambassador! Attend our book club, lead a program in the park, stop in to our recurring public programs, help lead our private programs, or support our coalition work and represent us in local events like the various environmental festivals and parades.
