Amazing opportunity awaits at our local food pantry Food Now! Food Now urgently needs your help. We distribute over 1,000,000 pounds of health fresh food annually to vulnerable and at-risk populations including low-income families, seniors, children, shut-ins, and the homeless. We currently have awesome volunteer opportunities available to help receive, sort, box, and distribute food for our weekly distributions to approximately 400 struggling households every week.

We operate Monday through Thursday from 7am till 12 noon. Can you spare 5 hours, one per week to help out for those in need? The positions we are looking to fill are performed in our climate-controlled warehouse, in a safe, friendly, and rewarding environment.

This small sacrifice will have a huge impact in the lives of the hundreds of families who depend on Food Now. Please consider joining the Food Now Team. If you can join us, great. If not, perhaps you know someone who might be interested. We offer college credits and community service hours.

Food Now strives to improve the quality of life for residents in western Coachella Valley by providing food assistance, community outreach and support services which strengthen families and build healthy communities.

Description

Food Now provides supplemental food assistance and other support services for in-need families and individuals in and around Desert Hot Springs. The services we provide include:
Food Assistance: A healthy diet is a critical component to achieve and maintain a healthy lifestyle. Food Now provides a safe and secure source of healthy food for those who are economically disadvantaged.
Home Deliveries : Food Now provides home deliveries of weekly supplemental food for disabled veterans and others who are housebound due to a medical necessity.
Children’s Backpack Feeding Program: The Food Now Children’s Backpack Feeding Program is a cooperative between Food Now and the Palm Springs Unified School District and provides selected chronically hungry children with additional nutritional support on weekends.
Homeless Needs Program: Food Now provides homeless clients with a daily distribution of special ready to eat food packages which require no heating or refrigeration. Personal hygiene items are distributed as needed.
Companion Animal Feeding Program: Food Now provides weekly cat and dog food assistance for pet owners.
