ORGANIZATION: HOPE FOR HAITIANS INC

We are looking for volunteers to collaborate with our staff in the planning of our 2024 Fun Bun Run 5k Walk/Run for Education. This is an active workgroup out of the Fox Valley area (volunteers do not need to be local to participate as most meetings are held virtually). Volunteers in each of the following roles will be supported by Hope for Haitians staff members for the event.

Ongoing Positions:

  • Sponsorship Coordinator
  • Responsibilities
    • Help build and maintain relationships with sponsors.
    • Coordinate with local businesses, organizations, and board members to secure donations and in-kind contributions for the Fun Bun Run 5k.
    • Ensure our sponsors receive recognition and benefits for their support.
    • Make sure sponsors have everything they need on the day of the event.
  • Food Coordinator
  • Responsibilities
    • Plan and manage post-race refreshments and snacks.
    • Coordinate with local food vendors.
    • Work with committee members to provide fruit, coffee, water, snack bars, and pastries for participants and volunteers.
  • Course Marshal/Marker
  • Responsibilities
    • Before the event, mark the course and ensure its safety.
    • Work alongside the race organizers to correctly mark the course with signs and mile markers.
    • Ensure there are no hazards that impede runners.
    • Coordinate with the lead bike.

Time Commitment:

Monthly zoom Meetings approximately now until April

Additional time as required April and May leading up to the event.

Since 2001, Hope for Haitians has worked to bring clean water, food, housing, education and medical services to Haiti, home to more than nine million people and considered to be the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere.

While helping to meet the basic needs of Haitians for housing and clean water, Hope for Haitians also creates sustainable solutions for continued self-sufficiency and provides education programs to prepare the next generation.

Since 2001, Hope for Haitians has:
+ Completed 17 village projects
+ Provided fresh water for 270,000 people
+ Built homes for 765 families
+ Housed over 4,590 people
+ Provided more than 5,000 animals for food and income
+ Ensured 1,710 students received a year of education
+ Trained local leadership councils
