Join us to help pick up litter, clean our parks, beaches and community spaces, and collect critical data to prevent plastic pollution! We are supporting many community groups that do litter cleanups, and we need volunteers to collect litter and track data. We are working with the US Environmental Protection Agency to help test a new litter assessment protocol across the state. Your contribution will help us identify the types and amounts of litter in various locations so that litter can be quantified as a pollutant under the federal Clean Water Act.

At Zero Waste Washington, we work to make trash obsolete by helping to pass laws, conducting research, and doing pilot projects. For over 40 years, our nonprofit organization has collaborated with many partners to pass cutting-edge legislation to strengthen our solid waste system and reduce toxic chemicals. We advocate for policies to promote producer responsibility, improve recycling, and prevent waste at its source. These efforts make it easier for residents and businesses to decrease the extraction of resources from our planet, lessen climate change impacts, and support environmental equity. Through our innovative programs and pilot projects, we also strive to reduce waste and advance a circular economy.
