Humane Action Pittsburgh's HAP Hive Campaign is hosting a volunteer day to spruce up and complete the 12,000 square foot pollinator garden they installed last year in a vacant lot in Swissvale.

Volunteers are encouraged to show up to help with the following activities:

  • weeding
  • litter clean up
  • planting clover seed
  • secure bee hotels
  • other tasks as necessary
  • fixing water tank


Please wear clothing you can get dirty and closed toe shoes. Bring gardening or work gloves.

If you have access to the following items and would be willing to bring them to use, please do!

  • watering cans
  • trowels
  • shovels
  • wheel barrows
  • drill
  • rakes


Staff from HAP will be on hand to assist and direct volunteers.

This opportunity is not for children under 15.
