Everyone needs a home that is warm, safe, and dry. From June through September, we welcome groups of volunteers at our Cherryfield campus to spend a week working with us. Each summer we complete multiple improvement projects on up to 20 homes in the area. Projects range from access entry decks to window and door repair or replacement. Operating since 2003, this program works in partnership with volunteer groups from around the country and community organizations.

We offer onsite accommodation at our Cherryfield campus, which includes dorm-style sleeping arrangement with cots, showers, and a kitchen for cooking meals. There are also indoor and outdoor gathering spaces. Other amenities include a campfire pit, grill, and deck. Volunteers are asked to bring along a sack lunch to a worksite as midday trips to campus aren’t always possible.

Typical Work Week

Groups arrive on Sunday for their upcoming week of volunteering. The work week is Monday through Friday at 12 p.m. Each morning, a volunteer group meets with the Housing Improvement Program Director at 7 a.m. to review the daily plan. The group arrives at a work site at 8 a.m. There is a break for lunch. The workday ends around 4 p.m.

Requested Donation

The Mission requests a donation of $200 per participant. Group leaders are asked to send a 10% deposit at the time of group registration and the remaining balance before or on arrival.
