Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: Idealist.org

Recruiting Organization: The Red Door Place

Bridging the Gap(BTG) is a new program starting at The Red Door Place, a food pantry located in Greenwich Village. The program will address the mental health challenges that many of our pantry guests face. BTG is an on-site referral (not counseling) service that takes place during the pantry hours every Tuesday, from 1p-5p.

The Resource Coordinators will meet with guests, connect them to NYC mental health services (using an established database), and follow-up on their progress. Training and supervision is offered. The time commitment is weekly on Tuesday afternoons.

The ideal candidate for this volunteer position is reliable, can make a weekly commitment, has good boundaries, is empathic, and able to use a computer for light data entry. See below for the kinds of volunteers who might find this opportunity exciting.
