Volunteer Ombudsman Advocates are needed in long-term and residential facilities to ensure residents are receiving quality care to enhance their quality of life. Volunteers will reduce social isolation while connecting with residents to supporting them with concerns or just being a friendly face,
What Concerns are most addressed?
- Promotes and advocates for the well-being and quality of life for residents in long-term facilities through regular visits.
- Physical, verbal, or mental abuse, deprivation of necessary services to maintain residency.
- Provide education about resident rights and person-centered principles.
- Provide support for the development of resident and family councils.

The Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program’s mission is to promote and ensure that residents of long-term care facilities in Idaho, have timely access to advocacy, mediation, and education to ensure their rights are honored. Vision: Our vision is that all individuals living with in long-term care facilities in Idaho will experience adequacy of care received, and the maximum possible quality of life. That all resident’s health, safety, welfare, and rights will be honored.
Description
Ombudsman advocates for residents of nursing homes, and other adult care facilities. We work to resolve problems individual residents face and effect change at the local, state, and national levels to improve the quality of life and care all individuals receiving in long-term care.
