Role Overview:
Massage Therapy Volunteers at HopeSpring Cancer Support Centre play a vital role in providing comfort, relaxation, and emotional support to individuals undergoing cancer treatment or in remission. Through the healing power of touch, volunteers help alleviate stress, reduce anxiety, and promote a sense of well-being among cancer patients and their families.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide Massage Therapy Sessions: Offer gentle and soothing massage therapy sessions to clients, adhering to professional standards and guidelines.
- Tailor Sessions to Individual Needs: Customize massage techniques and pressure based on the specific needs, preferences, and health conditions of each client.
- Create a Calming Environment: Ensure the massage therapy room is welcoming, clean, and conducive to relaxation, maintaining a serene atmosphere for clients.
- Listen and Communicate: Listen attentively to clients' concerns, preferences, and feedback, and communicate effectively to address any questions or apprehensions they may have.
- Maintain Confidentiality: Respect the privacy and confidentiality of clients' personal information and health status at all times.
Qualifications:
- Certified Massage Therapist with training and experience in providing therapeutic massage to individuals with medical conditions, preferably including cancer patients.
- Possess a compassionate and empathetic nature, with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Demonstrated understanding of the physical and emotional challenges faced by cancer patients and their families.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions with clients and colleagues.
