Reality Changers is a non-profit organization that prepares youth to become first generation college graduates and agents of change in their community. Our organization has been recognized by United States Secretary of Education as a "model for the country," and graduates of Reality Changers’ program have gone on to universities such as Harvard, Dartmouth, Duke, UCLA, UC Berkeley, UCSD, and more!
We are currently seeking volunteers to serve as tutors and mentors for youth (8th-11th grade) who desire to be the first member in their families to go to college.
We are looking for volunteers who are:
Able to commit to a weekly attendance minimum of 1 school year (September-June)
Professionals and/or college students or college graduates (first-generation preferred, but not required)
Passionate about education and working with youth
Proficient in high school level Math, English, Social Studies, and/or Sciences
Invested in building relationships with students and serving as a supportive mentor
Spanish-speakers encouraged to apply
Volunteers can choose to volunteer on a program night for the duration of the academic school year.
Tuesdays or Thursdays, 6:30-9:00pm at Reality Changers Headquarters in City Heights
Tutor training is included and background check required for all volunteers.
