Big happenings at the Irish Village during the 49th St. Peterburg International Folk Fair!!!!! We are in need of a few VOLUNTEERS at our Irish cultural tents/village at the International Folk Fair on FEBRUARY 19th thru 23rd, 2025. Positions include stamping passports for the village, keeping an eye over the tables of collectibles and Irish organization items for display in the cultural tent... helping out in the marketplace tent... monitoring the Ring Game"... and welcoming the students-teachers-chaperons-and festival goers into the Irish Village. WE ARE SO EXCITED to share that Ireland's Vice Consul & Consulate Member in Miami will be represented at our Irish Village on Friday Feb 21st & Saturday Feb 22nd.
There is the grand Parade of Nations at 2:00 pm on Saturday and you are invited to march along with us in the park! HERE IS A RECAP OF WHAT WE OFFER AT OUR EVENT to the school-children & the public:
Seanchie Productions presents the most amazing 12th - 15th century Gallowglass re-enactors at our Suncoast Irish village. At our fine Mary Margaret's Irish Pub Stage Tent in our village, there will be music and storytelling all 3 days. There will be Gaelic Language lessons and tips on how to play the Irish ball game of Hurling. The St. Pete Shanties & Snug Harbor Shanties of Florida will hold sing-a-long workshops. TRADITIONAL music at it's finest: Irish and old time tunes that can be traced back to Irish & Celtic heritage. Learn a few steps with St. Pete Irish Dancers. Learn about the history at the Medieval/historical weapons demonstration. A mockup of an "auld Irish" kitchen/dining area, complete with authentic weavers and spinners on site. A grand little marketplace tent for your next favorite keepsake! And some amazing AUTHENTIC Irish food and treats will be available by the amazing Chef McKenna! WE ARE A NON-PROFIT ORGANIATION THAT APPECIATES OUR VOLUNTEERS AND ASSISTANTS! We look forward to your help and participation as SPIFFS celebrates its 49th year! REMEMBER TO WEAR YOUR GREEN!!
