Haiti Communitere is seeking qualified applicants for the board member position of Fundraising Manager.
Overview of Association Haiti Communitere
Haiti Communitere was launched in 2010 to provide emergency response support in the aftermath of a massive earthquake that rocked Port-au-Prince, Haiti. The organization initially served as a community engagement platform and physical base where various humanitarian organizations could coordinate emergency response activities and facilitate sustainable disaster recovery. As the political and economic landscape of Haiti has changed in the intervening years and local needs have shifted away from acute humanitarian response towards long-term, community-led initiatives, Association Haiti Communitere has remained a flexible organization and continues to adapt to the ever changing local context. The current situation in Haiti, and particularly Port-au-Prince, is extremely complex as the country has no functioning government and local gangs compete for control of the area. Haiti Communitere currently does two things:
- We provide safe accommodation for medically fragile children who need to come to Port-au-Prince for medical care. We also accommodate the childrens’ parents as well as other patients from Port-au-Prince hospitals.
- We serve a community resource center that hosts small local organizations who rent our office space, storage space and space for training and workshops.
We are a tiny but valuable organization that punches above our weight in terms of contribution to the local community.

Mission Statement
Haiti Communitere (HC) is a Haitian organization that does whatever is required to support the community and respond to the continually evolving situation in Haiti. We have a large base in Port-au-Prince where we focus primarily on two things: 1. providing accomodation and support to medically fragile children and their parents who come to Port-au-Prince for medical attention 2. supporting small organizations through provision of office space, training space and storage space. However the reality is that the organization's flexible nature means that we can easily pivot, particularly in times of crisis and shift our focus to what is required at that time.
Description
Haiti Communitere was launched in 2010 in response to a massive earthquake that rocked Port-au-Prince and was focused on emergency response. Things have changed a lot since then. HC remains a flexible organization that works hard to respond to community needs, even as these needs are ever changing. The situation in Haiti and particularly Port-au-Prince is extremely complex HC does two things: 1. We provide safe accommodation for medically fragile children who need to come to Port-au-Prince for medical attention and their parents and we also accommodate other patients from Port-au-Prince hospitals. 2. We are a community resource center that hosts small organizations. We provide office space, storage space and space for training/workshops for these organizations. However we are able to shift our focus in response to changing realities in a very unstable country.
We are a tiny but valuable organization that punches above our weight in terms of contribution to the community.
